While the brand has given us some amazing models but the most popular amongst car enthusiasts have been Porsche 911 series. Made for competition, the cars under this series were typically racing cars. The number which has now become a trademark is still used for the modified version while the real name of the car is Porsche 964.

It’s been only few years since companies started standardizing safety features in their cars. Porsche has been doing it since its commencement. Airbags is the most important and the most basic feature in a car. Even though it added to the cost of the car, Porsche made it sure to make it mandatory for its cars to have standard safety features like passenger airbags. At last, customers come first! Continuing with our list, we bring you some more models from the brand:

550 RS Spyder 1954

The first key feat achieved by this car was at 1956 Targa Florio when it won its first major race. First introduced in 1953 Paris Auto Show, the car has wooed car lovers with its small, agile, lightweight and powerful body. In short, the car is a perfection any racer would want to drive. The iconic James Dean too loved this car. It was well-known as his Little Bastard.

While cars like GT3 Hybrid are made only for racing, 550 RS Spyder can be driven both on tracks as well as on roads. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see many eyes rolled when this car makes its presence. With tabular chassis frame, the car had an aluminum body which helped it the company to produce an extremely lightweight car. This is the reason why the car had been a winner till it was produced.

911 Targa (1965)

911 cars have been the most successful cars in the history of automobile. All the versions have made their way into the hearts of car enthusiasts and the main reason behind the series’ success have been the looks and the excellent performance on tracks. Targa is one amongst the 911 cars.

Targa in Italian means ‘shield’. The car had a stainless steel-clad roll bar and a removable soft canvas cover in a flexible plastic window. Though first few models disappointed the admirers but the company worked on the loopholes and modified the model making it one of the best 911 cars available in the market.
The above two models has proved that Porsche only produces winners. Learning from the mistakes, the company overcomes its flaws and gives its admirers some models they would relish. The best always prefers the best!

Derived from Boxster roadster, Cayman S is not just any coupe’. Having a character of its own, this rear mid-engined, real wheel drive is the best two seater one can ever wish for. With a top speed of 172 mph, the car can reach 60mph in less than five seconds. This fast beast is all that is required to flaunt off your style.

The name Cayman is derived from the reptile caiman and not the island as people assumes. Like a crocodile who sits calmly in the water waiting for its chance to prey, Cayman too is a silent player that draws envious eyes once it is out on road. With extraordinary features, buying this car would be everyone’s wish. But its price would make it impossible for many to fulfill their wish. We’ve got a solution. Porsche 356

Porsche’s first production automobile, Porsche 356 is a luxury sports car and is available as 2-door coupe’, roadster and convertible. Porsche 356 is primarily a four-cylinder, air-cooled, rear-engine, rear-wheel drive car whose chassis design is comparatively different from other Porsche cars. The vision behind this car which was designed by Erwin Komenda was explained by Ferdinand Porsche in an interview with Panorama, the PCA magazine. He said,

"….I had always driven very speedy cars. I had an Alfa Romeo, also a BMW and others. ….By the end of the war I had a Volkswagen Cabriolet with a supercharged engine and that was the basic idea. I saw that if you had enough power in a small car it is nicer to drive than if you have a big car which is also overpowered. And it is more fun. On this basic idea we started the first Porsche prototype. To make the car lighter, to have an engine with more horsepower…that was the first two seater that we built in Carinthia ".

Its mid-engine, tube-frame roadster set the stage for later changes in the cars that began with the 550 series, as well as continuing in the 914, the Boxster, the Cayman, and the Carrera GT. And the type 2 356 which was a coupe’ became a starting point for the 911 series, the series that ultimately became the most successful series ever produced by any automobile company.
